About the Treatment

It is possible to naturally boost the skin's collagen production to combat the signs of aging, and Sculptra® Aesthetic is the only FDA-approved facial injectable treatment that does just that.

By stimulating collagen production, Sculptra subtly and gradually adds volume that lifts the soft tissues and plumps the skin from within, improving the look of smile lines, marionette lines, pre-auricular wrinkles, radial cheek folds, and chin wrinkles. Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, which work immediately to fill in lines and wrinkles, Sculptra is made from Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which stimulates the skin's own natural collagen production over time.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that contains poly-L-lactic acid. It's primarily used for facial volume restoration and stimulating collagen production to improve skin elasticity.

Who is a good candidate? Who is NOT a candidate?

Good Candidates: Individuals seeking to address volume loss, particularly in the mid-face area, and those looking for a gradual and natural-looking improvement.

Not Candidates: Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, those with a history of keloid formation, or individuals with active skin infections at the injection site.

What kind of conditions does it treat?

Sculptra is commonly used to treat facial volume loss, hollow cheeks, and sagging skin. It is not designed for fine lines and wrinkles but focuses on overall facial rejuvenation.

How is the treatment done?

Sculptra is injected into the targeted areas using a fine needle. The treatment typically involves multiple sessions spaced a few weeks apart to achieve gradual and long-lasting results.

How long to see results?

Results are not immediate. It takes a few weeks for the poly-L-lactic acid to stimulate collagen production. The typical treatment regimen consists of three injections over three to four months, and results appear gradually over a period of a few months, lasting more than two years.

Why do the procedure/benefits?

Sculptra provides a non-surgical option for restoring facial volume, addressing sagging skin, and stimulating collagen production. It offers a gradual and natural-looking enhancement. Sculptra may be a good choice for those who lack the structure, support, and volume in their face that's necessary for fillers to make a desired difference in their appearance.

How long is recovery? What does it look like? (Bruising, swelling, etc.)

Recovery is minimal. Some swelling, redness, or bruising may occur, but these are generally mild and temporary. Patients can usually resume normal activities shortly after treatment.

How often do you have to follow up/maintenance?

Maintenance sessions are typically recommended to prolong results. On average, a series of three treatment sessions over the course of a few months may be needed, with results continuing to improve through the 9th month.
