Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing

About the Treatment

What is it?

Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing is a treatment that can effectively address a range of skin concerns. The treatment can be applied to all areas of the skin, including the face, neck, hands, and body. It can treat wrinkles, sun spots, age spots, melasma, uneven skin discoloration, red and brown spots, precancerous lesions, scarring of all types, stretch marks, large pores, and skin roughness. It can also remove Syringoma, Sebaceous Hyperplasia, pimples around the eyes, and warts. Additionally, the treatment helps to diminish dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines/wrinkles by brightening and smoothing skin and promoting new collagen growth. The Fractional CO2 Laser creates microscopic columns on the skin's surface, promoting regeneration and collagen synthesis in the deeper layers.

Who is a good candidate? Who is NOT a candidate?

Good candidates for laser skin resurfacing are looking to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. An CO2 laser treatment may not be safe for those with certain health problems. An CO2 laser treatment is not recommended for patients who are currently taking Accutane. Those with a history of difficulty healing or scarring are not candidates, as well as those with bleeding disorders. Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not a candidate for the CO2 laser.

How is the treatment done?

C02 laser resurfacing uses pulses of laser light. These beams penetrate the skin’s surface, where water in the skin cells absorbs them. When this happens, the epidermis, or superficial layer of your skin, is vaporized. The dermis, or middle layer, heats up, stimulating the growth of new collagen fibers. As the area heals, new firmer, smoother skin replaces the old layers.

How long does it take to see results?

Tightening and textural improvement can be seen within one week of the procedure, and continued collagen production adds further improvements for 6-9 months following the treatment. With advanced capabilities and intuitive functionality, clinicians can deliver customized treatments with dynamic and long-lasting results

How long is recovery?(Bruising, swelling, etc.)

There is downtime associated with a CO2 laser treatment. Plan for 7-10 days for healing before you can go out in public. Your skin will scab and peel 2-7 days after treatment, and will be pink for 3-4 weeks. The exact healing time varies between person to person.

How often do you have to follow up/maintenance?

The treatment involves 2 to 4 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart.
