About the Procedure
What Is the Mons Pubis?
The mons pubis is the fatty area located at the top of the groin, between the lower abdomen and the genitalia. Many women experience fullness, puffiness, or sagging in this area due to weight gain, pregnancy, hormonal changes, or aging. This hormone-dependent fat is often resistant to diet and exercise.
Excess volume in the mons pubis can create a bulging appearance, especially in tight-fitting clothing, and may negatively impact confidence and comfort.
Treatment Options for the Mons Pubis
At Wei Aesthetic Institute, we offer both surgical and non-surgical solutions for mons pubis contouring. Treatment recommendations are customized based on anatomy, skin quality, and patient goals.
Non-Surgical Options
For patients with mild to moderate fullness, non-surgical treatments may be appropriate. These options focus on fat reduction, skin tightening, and contour improvement without surgery or downtime.
Non-surgical options may include:
Energy-based skin tightening treatments to improve laxity
Fat-reduction technologies designed to reduce localized fatty tissue
Radiofrequency treatments to enhance skin firmness and appearance
These treatments are best suited for patients who are not ready for surgery or who have minimal excess fat and good skin tone. Multiple sessions may be required, and results are more gradual compared to surgery.
What Is Mons Pubis Liposuction?
Mons Pubis Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to permanently remove excess fat from the mons pubis, creating a flatter and more proportionate contour between the lower abdomen and the pubic area.
This procedure is most effective for patients with good skin elasticity. In patients with looser skin, liposuction alone may worsen laxity due to a deflation effect. In these cases, monsplasty (surgical removal of excess skin) may be recommended alone or in combination with liposuction for optimal results.
How Is Mons Pubis Liposuction Performed?
The procedure is performed under anesthesia. A small incision is made, and a thin cannula is used to gently suction excess fat. The incision is then closed with sutures.
Dr. Wei uses precise techniques to ensure smooth, natural-appearing contours while preserving surrounding anatomy.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
You may be a good candidate for mons pubis treatment if you:
Are bothered by fullness or bulging in the upper pubic area
Feel self-conscious wearing tight clothing
Are at a stable weight appropriate for your height
Are in good overall health
Understand the differences between surgical and non-surgical outcomes
Recovery and Results (Surgical Treatment)
Showering allowed on the second day after surgery
Compression garments worn for approximately two weeks
Avoid strenuous activity for two weeks
Return to normal activity by six weeks
Swelling, bruising, and tenderness are normal and temporary.
Final results are typically visible after 3–4 months, once swelling has fully resolved. Results are long-lasting with stable weight and no future pregnancy.
Follow-Up and Maintenance
Post-operative visits are scheduled to monitor healing. No maintenance is required after surgical treatment. For non-surgical treatments, periodic maintenance sessions may be recommended depending on the modality used.
