What is the ALMI?

ALMI is a type of transplant that involves moving fat from one area of your body to another, using needles instead of scalpels. This procedure recontours the target area with injections to achieve a natural appearance, while also reducing the risk of rejection by using the patient's own tissue. The acronym ALMI stands for autologous, meaning the filler comes from the patient's own body; lipocyte, which is the medical term for fat cell; micronized, which refers to the process of liquifying the fat cells before injecting them into the treatment areas; and injection, which helps restore youthful elasticity, volume, and texture to the skin.

Vulvar plumping is a cosmetic procedure that involves injecting fillers into the labia majora (the outer lips of the vagina) to increase their volume and create a plumper appearance. The procedure is intended to enhance the aesthetics of the vulva and improve self-confidence. In this case, the “filler” used would be fat transferred from your own body using the ALMI technique.

Who is a good candidate? Who is NOT a candidate?

Good candidates should be in good health and have realistic expectations of the results. Most women can be considered good candidates if they have an adequate amount of fat on either the stomach, flanks, or buttocks for the extraction. Candidates should refrain from injecting synthetic materials into their skin (such as dermal fillers or Botox).

How is the treatment done?

Before the procedure, patients undergo a medical evaluation and discussion of the ALMI technique. On the day of the procedure, a small amount of adipose tissue (fat) is extracted from the abdomen or flank, processed to remove unwanted material, micronized, and placed in a syringe. The regenerative substance is then injected into the treatment areas, which are numbed beforehand to prevent discomfort. Patients may experience slight swelling or mild bruising, but can typically return to normal activities immediately.

Why do the treatment?

Some women may choose to have this procedure because they are unhappy with the appearance of their vulva or labia majora, and they may feel self-conscious or insecure about it. Vulvar plumping can also be used to address the natural loss of volume and elasticity that can occur with age, or as a result of hormonal changes, weight loss, or pregnancy. By increasing the volume of the labia majora, vulvar plumping can create a more youthful, plump, and aesthetically

pleasing appearance.

Is there any downtime to the treatment?

There is no downtime to the treatment, but patients should abstain from sexual activity for at least seven days after the treatment.
