What is the Picosure Laser Treatment?

The world's first picosecond aesthetic laser-optimal wavelengths for treating pigmentary conditions and overall skin revitalization. How does PicoSure work?

PicoSure works two ways. As an ultra-fast laser, it’s able to break up pigmented areas of skin. Then the discolored areas disappear as the destroyed pieces are naturally eliminated by your body. The laser operates at a wavelength that’s only absorbed by pigmented skin, so it doesn’t harm surrounding tissues.

PressureWave technology reaches below the skin to deeper layers, where it creates gentle pressure that stimulates the body’s normal healing response. During healing, new collagen and elastin are produced, which grow up through the skin to reach the surface. As fresh collagen and elastin replace old cells on your skin’s surface, your skin becomes stronger and more pliable. Ultimately, you gain a revitalized appearance.

1. SKIN DISCOLORATION

With PicoSure, your skin will look bright, healthy and glowing all day long—even without makeup. Fast and gentle, it treats freckles, sun damage, birthmarks and more. PicoSure works in harmony with your skin to lighten pigmentation such as freckles, sun damage and more. It breaks up the tiny particles that make up these discolorations. The particles are then absorbed into the skin.

2. ACNE SCARRING

Be ready for your big reveal. Check out PicoSure, a fast, gentle treatment for acne scars and large pores. No need to cover-up afterwards; it will boost skin texture and tone from the get-go. PicoSure works by signaling skin cells to release proteins which are detected by other cells. This encourages skin to heal as it produces new collagen and elastin. The result? What can you expect during treatment?

Before your treatment begins, the team at WEI Aesthetic Institute explains the procedure and talks about whether you may want numbing cream. Most people tolerate the treatment, but each person’s skin sensitivity is different, so you may choose a topical treatment to ensure your comfort.

One treatment takes about 10-15 minutes. You may have minor redness or swelling that lasts one to three hours. Since your skin isn’t damaged by the treatment, you can apply moisturizers and makeup right after treatment and get back to your usual daily routine.

When will you see results?

It takes a little time for your body to clear away pigmented lesions and for newly synthesized collagen and elastin to migrate toward the skin’s surface. Dr. Wei can give you a better idea about when you’ll see results based on the conditions being treated.

How long is recovery?

There is virtually no down time. Aside from some redness and swelling that may last a couple of hours after treatment.

How often should I get a Picosure treatment done?

A series of 3-4 treatments is recommended. Treatment intervals are 2-4 weeks but can be up to 8 weeks for darker skin types. Each patient is unique and will be evaluated prior to treatment.

How long will Picosure treatment results last?

The longevity of results from PicoSure® will depend on the skin issue that is being treated.

Someone treating hyperpigmentation or acne scars will typically experience long-term results. However, this doesn’t mean that new scars or melanin clusters will not develop in the future.
